Latest News from Tudor Lodge Surgery

The flu and covid vaccination season is just about finished for the Autumn/Winter 2023-24.  Although we don’t have confirmation yet, we are expecting to be providing covid vaccinations to eligible patients in April 2024.  The next flu season starts in September 2024.  We have just a few flu vaccines left, please call our reception team if you would like your flu jab.  Please note that we are aware that a very small number of patients who were vaccinated are not showing as vaccinated on their NHS App, this was caused by the new software that was used nationally which didn’t bring the information through into our clinical system.  We are working with the software provider to make sure the data all comes through.

Healthy Livers and liver testing!

We are delighted to report that we are working with North Somerset Public Health and the NHS ‘Alright My Liver’ Community Liver Screening team to invite our patients to get their livers scanned and find out how to keep your liver healthy.  If you receive an invitation, there is nothing to worry about – you aren’t being invited because there is something wrong with your liver.  You’re being invited because we want to make sure it stays that way and you stay fit and well for as long as possible.  You will have appeared in our search due to one or more of the following conditions:-

  • Are overweight (particularly if ‘apple shaped’ and have a lot of fat around your waist)
  • Have type 2 Diabetes or a condition that affects how your body uses insulin
  • Have insulin resistance (conditions such as polycystic ovary symptom can lead to this)
  • Have an underactive thyroid
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Have high cholesterol
  • Have metabolic syndrome (a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity)
  • Are over 50 years old
  • Smoke

So as you will see from this list, some conditions which we all think of as quite minor, could lead you to receive an invitation.  Please do go along to the event on Monday 12th February 9.30am – 12 noon at the For All Healthy Living Centre to find out more.  They will even provide Tea & Coffee.  For more information you can visit https://www.betterhealthns.co.uk/information/liver-health or call 01934 427661.  Please try to avoid calling the practice to discuss an invitation and instead attend the next event if you can.  We’re sure this will be fantastic for patients and we will be doing more of these in the months to come.
